(Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)
With effect from 2nd January 2007 the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations came into force. They will have an important impact on manufactures, importers, sellers, distributors and end users of most types of Electrical, Electronic, Equipment.
The purpose of the regulation is to transpose the bulk of the provisions of the EC W.E.E.E. directive which aims to address the environmental impacts of EEE and to encourage its separate collection, and subsequent treatment, reuse, recovery, recycling and environmentally sound disposal. It seeks to improve the environmental performance of all those involved in the life cycle of electrical electronic equipment.
